This happened to be the first book on this subject I read, despite my therapist giving me several recommendations (this book was not one of them). I purchased the book due to the wonderful online reviews. The book, while somewhat insightful, was not all I hoped it would be. I could see it being more helpful for someone just starting the healing process who has not been in a healthy relationship yet.It is however my suggestion to check out these: Ghosts in the Bedroom, Allies in Healing, and Victims no Longer (this book is written for male incest survivors).If you are reading books of this nature, odds are you are searching for things to read on your journey to healing. The best piece of advice I have received is that it does not always matter what type of sexual abuse the book is written about, or which sex the book is directed toward. In it's simplest breakdown, all forms of sexual abuse can elicit similar life long issues and therefore a variety of resources can be helpful.

This book very thoroughly covers a variety of topics for the sexual abuse survivor. There are some chapters that do focus on sexual technique that I decided I could skip, but others may find them very helpful. It was a relief to hear other experiences that echoed my own and made me feel less alone. For me personally, the chapters on Dissociation (Chapter 3), Self Denial (Chapter4) and Embracing Triggers (Chapter 11) alone are worth the price of the book and gave me coping tools beyond any other book or even therapy has given me. This book has helped me with a lot of anxiety/ depression related issues outside sex as well.

This book is wonderful. I work with incest survivors and am always looking for new resources. This book is very practical and easy to read and just a great tool.

excellent gentle resource for survivors

It's a great book about sexual baggabe and how to deal with it, even for people who haven't been victims of child abuse.

I was raped and this book has helped me immensely in my recovery. I had problems with triggers, and this book is helping me learn to embrace and move through my triggers.

At some point in their healing, all survivors of childhood sexual abuse should read this book. It is straightforward and to the point, and this style helps the survivor feel that sexual feelings and actions are not something to be ashamed of. Many books for survivors tend to coddle the survivor because of the terrible ordeal she underwent, but this one presents a no-holds-barred discussion of sex and provides exercises to become more comfortable with sex. Very important book for the sexual healing process.

I am not a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, but I found this guide extremely informative and enlightening. It gave me a new perspective and appreciation for all those who have survived such abuses. I found this guide helpful and am using many of its suggestions in my own life. This is important: you do not have to be a survivor to gain knowledge, insight and help from this guide! Everyone can benefit.
