I purchased this book in order to help me with studying for the Praxis Core exams. I had taken a few test exams and received poor scores on the reading comprehension test so I wanted to bone up on those skills primarily. I enjoyed this section of the book as it helped me to better understand the types of questions that I would be likely to see. I read through it once and felt confident that I would pass the exam. I then came to the writing section and was taken aback by how much time was spent on parts of speech and identifying those parts of speech. I spent a few hours reading through this section and felt overwhelmed by the amount of material. I was very concerned about passing this test after reading the section. I decided to check the Praxis study companion for this test to see how much of this terminology I would need and learned, "Examinees are not required to have a knowledge of formal grammatical terminology" (Core Academic Skills for Educators:Writing, ETS Praxis, 2017, p. 6). I was relieved and decided to skip the final portions of this chapter.I did not read the chapter on the mathematics test as I felt strong enough in this realm to proceed directly to the test.I passed all three exams and am thankful that I took the time to study. Although I did not feel the writing section was useful for the test, it does contain a lot of generally useful knowledge on grammar that could serve others interested in writing better.

For me, this is absolutely perfect. I have been out of school for a while now. I found the instruction and overall organization to be perfect for my needs. The online resources are also very helpful.

A very frustrating resource to use. In some areas, the book is very precise and carefully gets the point across. In other categories (i.e. the geometry section), everything feels very rushed and the practice problems are minimal and often the most difficult. To set this in perspective, the easier math is often accompanied with many practice problems that scale in difficulty. The more difficult math lacks this feature and is entirely overwhelming.Besides the methodology of this book, there also exists a noticeable amount of errors that surprisingly escaped past the editor. I noticed an instance where two answers were the same, and sometimes the answers aren't actually correct. Furthermore, the answer key for the practice test isn't always definite. In some cases it explains how to solve the problem but doesn't directly state the answer which leaves ambiguity when some answers are remarkably similar. In some cases, the explanation doesn't even reflect the available answers.The fact that this book was published and printed with such blatant errors is beyond me. I am sadly disappointed by this product. It has a lot of potential but a lack of quality assurance forces me to suggest that people look for another resource in studying.EDIT: Upon further usage of this book, I dropped my rating to 1-star rather than 2-stars. For two reasons, the amount of 5-stars largely inflates this book's score to an unreasonable level. Secondly, I'm finding more problems with its methodology. I've found a few instances where questions were based around material that was never even taught within the book. During some of the sample questions, the material required to answer the sample question wasn't even available until the next section making it impossible to even try. Yet again, it's worth mentioning that these mistakes are occurring with the most difficult material, which is beyond frustrating.

I had used different materials prior to coming across the reviews for this and saw how highly rated it was. I have to say this is the best prep that I used! I wasn't able to access the online prep materials however as it was advertised online and in the book. Overall, even with just the book it was great to sharpen Math skills.

I am beginning to study for the Math Praxis Core exam, and so far this test prep has been helpful. I like the layout of this study guide. I compared your book to another study guide and surprisingly, it was not as organized as this one. The way your study guide is set up makes me feel confident that I am covering everything I need to know. Thank you for helping me achieve my goal to teach!

Being a non-traditional student this book helped me in so many ways. I enjoyed how everything was broken down into sections and it made it easier to study for. I thought it was helpful with the hints along the way. Thank you again for this book and helping me study for my test!!!
