This one was just okay. I skipped the last book, as I was upset about this author's sudden need to cut her books in half and rush things, creating novellas but charging full book price. I only read this one as it's the last one and it suffered the same issue. It's a shame that this author put out such a great start to a series that I would have recommended to everyone, until she got lazy and greedy for the last 3. The whole series suffered for it. The last 3 had very little plot, very little action and the romance was so rushed it was almost non existent. Just such a let down from the first 5 books which were rich in character, very well developed plots, exciting romances and non-stop action. In one series she went from being a fave author to one to dump. Like Laurell K Hamilton did.
*Sigh* The grand finale.Charles, from the start, was my favorite. He made me laugh, I loved his relationship with Sasha, and his weirdness. His and Ann's story was everything I expected and just a touch more. I'm a bit disappointed with the ending's pace, it just all happened too fast, but I also loved it. Odd, right? But, honestly I did. Him and Ann are just perfect for each other.I loved that they weren't too serious, especially Charles, he had this boyish nature that just made him easy to love even when you eabted to throttle him.I'm sad to see one of my favorite series end, but, that's the magic of books no? You cab always revisit them.I loved the Darkness series by K.F. Breene.
Charles grew up. Who would've guessed! This wouldn't be 4.5 stars if I wasn't so invested in both characters from the beginning of this series. We have only glimpses of Sasha and Stefan but the title of this book is Charles, falks. Nothing strange or unseen before. And it is not some grand finale of the series either. We had it in book 6. Or 5. Or was it in Jonas'? And therein lays the problem. Kinda hard to rate this separately from the rest of the series cause it fluctuates a lot, but if I really try hard, THIS book is a solid 4.5 stars. What ruins the moment though, is that it took some effort to finish the series and it still feels like.....Is that it???? Anyhow, I'm glad it's over and that's not a compliment. A pity, causing the series had such a grand start....
This is actually my favorite book in the series probably because Charles is my favorite character. I have read the whole series multiple times. Every time a new book is released I reread the who series. This book was way to short! Only reason it's getting 4 stars is for the shortness of it. I read it in one sitting in my time between dinner and bed. It was good but after reading the first few books I feel if she took more time it could have been way better so I'm sad that this book and the next book #9 feel so rushed. I'm patient I'm sure the readers will wait for the next book longer if the books are longer and better, come on been waiting on some books for over 5 years.
I really hope this isn't the last book to Sasha's series D:This ranks as a 4.5 for me. The plot was pretty awesome with shifters going missing in a crazy scientist lab, but if that's the main point, the ending wasn't as satisfying as it could've been. I wanted to see those crazy whackos punished for what they did. However, I'm glad it was all about Charles and Ann because they're one of my favorite adorable couples.Book eight was definitely more heartfelt and frightening via Charles. He was a BEAST and definitely reminded me just how inhuman and predator his kind really are. Unlike the last installment, where I hesitated a bit because I think I didn't wanna see my crush mated away just yet (XD) I was all for Charles finally getting his big boy balls and hooking up with Ann. They had great chemistry that I already invested five books in, so seeing their happy ever after was extremely satisfying.A few goodies were left out that the other books got (boo!) like a peek into the future and seeing more kids. *sighs* Which is why I hope to God this doesn't end anytime soon. XDI recommend this series because of how this author writes her stories so well, sucking you in and blending a culture of violence with fierce determination, primal needs of the sexuals, outrageous hilarity, and fun (scary) battle scenes. Love it or hate it, you're missing out.
Oh this series!!! This was absolutely one of the best series I have read evah!! From the first book, 'Into the Darkness' Ms Breene caught me hook, line and sinker! And I devoured these books in less than a week! Who needs to sleep, anyway? Automatically, I fell in love with Sasha and Stefan. Sasha was such a snarky, brave heroine and Stefan was such a passionate, alpha male! I could feel the magnetic pull between these two characters and rooted for them the whole way!The supporting cast of characters were well developed as well and I was so glad that Jonas and Charles got their own books as well! The action in these books was fantastic as well. It seemed the dangers as well as the excitement grew throughout each book and I was giddy with anticipation thru each potential disaster. Sasha and Charles provided enough humor to even out the tension, making it a perfect balance. Overall, Ms Breene wove an amazing make-believe world full of magical characters! And I so didn't want to leave that world. As I finished the last book, I felt like I was losing my best friends :( Everyone who likes paranormal/urban fantasy needs to read this series. You won't be disappointed!
I loved this entire series! I couldn't get enough of each of the characters. I especially loved Charles from the beginning. I was so happy there was this book dedicated specifically to him and his happily ever after. I always knew it would be Ann that he ended up with. I wish the next book (if there is a next) would be about Jameson. It would be cool if a series came out about all the kids that everyone had. Like Sasha and Stefans twins, etc. Not stories about them being kids but about them when they're adults. Just a thought. Anyway, I totally recommend this series to everyone. It will have you laughing out loud, get your lady or man bits throbbing, have you tear up and have you on the edge of your seat reading as fast as you can to find out what happens next!
