I can't even get past the first chapter. I've read some dry books in my time, but this is ridiculous. Just because you're a CCIE does NOT mean you can teach or write a book. I really wish Todd Lammle had updated his CCNA data center books because it's thanks to him that I passed my CCNA routing and switching in the first place. These three authors apparently have absolutely no sense of humor, and they throw all this terminology out there without defining it! I may have to get another Cisco cert because I cannot make it through this book, I guarantee. Besides, the first chapter makes me feel like I'm being trained to be a sales person, not a data center technician. Do we really have to memorize every single Nexus switch model and specs and modules for this exam? Cisco Press REALLY needs to hire some actual authors because they consistently publish the driest crap in the tech world. And this may not be Cisco Press's fault, but the graphics in the book are way too small and do not enlarge unless you're on a Kindle mobile device. So one of the graphics I could not at all read, Figure 1-57, I saved from my phone and pulled it up on my PC - and guess what? The graphic is distorted when enlarged so it doesn't help at all to even include graphics that cannot be READ!!!

I took the exam this morning and passed it. This book was my primary resource for preparing for the exam. Overall, the book served it's purpose but there is a lot of room for improvement. Unfortunately, it appears to be the only book out there at the moment. The first chapter is just table after table of product specifications that would have benefited greatly from guidance on the authors regarding what is important or worth memorizing or suggestions for how to remember the material. The last two chapters are on storage and they go into extreme detail. It almost seemed like the author forgot that they were writing a cert guide for an associate level certification and decided to write a reference manual instead. Cert guides and reference manuals both have there place but in this case I would have preferred limiting the scope to more closely correspond to the task at hand. And I'm not sure what they were thinking writing a single chapter on storage that is over 150 pages long. It would have been nice to have it broken into chapters and more logically organized. In addition to the book itself, there are also memory tables and practice exams available online which I found helpful.

Horrible book. this book goes in to great detail about topics that are not focused on on the exam, and at the same time will gloss over key points. it is painfully dry and written more for someone who has been int he industry for 20 years (which i have and still couldn't finish it) it is bad enough that cisco is gouging $300 a test; but then selling junk books on top if it. shame shame on them.

Wrong book will have to return it -- should have purchased the hardback -- it contains a CD and other material to study for the exam.

If it weren't for the quizzes and "Do you know this already" exams, I'd give this 4-5 stars. However, there was little or no QA in terms of the quiz questions. The answers provided are wrong 10-20% of the time. This does a great disservice to new learners trying to grasp these concepts for the first time.

Nice Book ,, DJ ZMost,, CCNP

I read through this whole book and I have to say, it is poorly written. There are topics that I already knew because I studied for CCNA R&S. However, because I never studied SAN topics before, I got lost quickly. I had to look these topics up separately like FC, iSCSI, FCIP and FCoE, FLOGI, zoning etc to get a better understanding. When I read these topics in the book, I just couldn't grasp the concepts because of the poor way the book was written. You would be much better off googling each exam topic to find articles and videos that actually explain it well. Then there is chapter 2 "Introduction to Nexus Data Center Infrastructure and Architecture." I'm thankful I have real world experience with Nexus technology. Not only is this chapter very dry, it makes TONS of assumptions about your understanding of certain things. They throw out acronyms without explanation regularly. Again, you are better off just reading the data sheets for the Nexus technology. In short, I really wouldn't recommend that you read this book. The amount of time it will take you to read it doesn't justify the amount of understanding you will get. As mentioned previously, you will be far better off if you google each exam topic.

Honestly, if I could give 0 stars I would. I was wondering if it was just me but others seem to feel the same way. 1st, the DIKTA questions are very poorly written and the answers in the back are wrong a good bit of the time. The answer should is B but they say A is the answer and then go on to explain how B is correct. Very confusing. Thankfully I have worked with Nexus for a few years and am able to weed out some of the bad information. The book does not even cover all the topics on the blueprint. I can get pat the dry part, really I can, but, the amount of errors in this book is staggering. The flow of the book is bad, sprinkled with the technical errors, lack of all exam topics in the blueprint and throw in a pinch of wrong answers in the DIKTA already sections and you have one big swing and a terrible miss. Very disappointed Cisco would release a book like this to study for a 300 dollar exam. At least give test takers a fighting chance.
