This guide is pretty terrible. I usually buy LP guides, but their Corsica guide is many years old. I've read through the DK guide and it is so boring and I still don't have a clue where I want to go in Corsica. They list church after church after church. I have no doubt there are many churches on the island, but how about some other sites and points of interest? The graphic design is terrible, none of the images align next to what the main body text is describing. Really disappointing and it has me questioning whether I want to go to Corsica after all, instead of filling me with excitement.

Let's face it, we don't have a lot of time to read these days. Photos provide a much faster way of getting acquainted with the subject. Every time I'm going somewhere far, I go to Barns and Noble and look at all available guide books. Then without exception I choose DK. Why? Because the pictures are by far superior. In addition there are maps! And the paper quality is good - important consideration, when the book gets abused while traveling. And there is history of the places. And there is local lore. And the book doesn't weight too much and is not too bulky. Both the concept and implementation are amazing. As far as Alaska, I also looked at Nat. Geo., Michelin, Lonely Planet and a few others. Uninformative photos, some books too large and/or bulky, some - too small, some have bad paper. The only thing I can say to DK Eyewitness - just stay the way you are!!!

Loved this book, it was perfect for planning our Corsican Trip. Detail on many smaller cities, great photos, excellent insight on the Island.

This is an updated version of the first one we had. Gave that one away and purchased this one to stay current. It is the only general guide we take with us now. Just take local guide brochures in addition.

Excellent book as are all the eyewitness Travel guides. I believe it would be more helpful for those driving on land over Alaska. ON a cruise of course we did not see much of what was described in the book. Not to mean it was not helpful, but that 3/4 of it we did not see.

Once again, DK has produced a winner. These books are packed full of wonderful pictures and information. They are also very heavy. Probably best to use for trip planning.
