If one can not do it, or is not motivated enough to do it, than this diary will transport you from your daily life of grayness to a life of adventure, boldness and perseverance. Skip one fast food lunch and spend your money on this purchase, you will not regret it. Well written, serious yet filled with some tongue in cheek humor, and if at the end you get this overwhelming urge to pack your underwear and to escape the routines, to the chagrin of your family, friends and employers you can always blame it on Ian.

Really enjoyed the story. Would love to have a cycling adventure like that. Hope to reward my retirement from military service with a trip cycling across America.One thing I thought strange was likely due to different vernacular. Ian said a few times he was generously allowed to spend a night in the outhouse of strangers. I think he meant out building. Not sure it was an actual outhouse (small small structure which contains the toilet). But maybe it was such a building.Glad you stuck it out Ian. I am sure there were some difficult times dragging on you physicall, mentally, and emotionally.

This is a very well written book, but I never got the feeling I was absorbed. In 27k km there is not ever a paragraph on what he has done to the bike, I think only one mention of the type of bike and precious little about bike preparation or gear he took. And you never really get to know who Ian is.... like I said well written but no soul.

My favorite epic bike touring book so far, and I’ve read quite a few. Lots of detail, heart and humanity in an elegant, fun to read voice. Nicely done!

I am reading this book and I am enjoying it a lot. I love travel books and this one is well written. Romantic but not lost in description either.

His writing was interesting and descriptive without getting too bogged down in detail. Enjoyed his interactions with fellow cyclists and the goodness of people along the way.

What an interesting adventure to "ride" along with Ian! He introduced me to the people, culture and, of course, the landscape/scenery.

What a great read. Thanks Ian for giving me the enjoyment of your journey. A fantastic story that was well written and easy to be on the bike with you. I envy your courage and dedication to finishing your ride.
